I understand how busy you are and I'm here to help! I'll project manage applying—we will spend a short amount of time together for me to interview and get to know you and then I go off and write your nomination application. I can also help manage collecting (and outlining) letters of recommendation and other ancillary documents, but I will need your help collecting data about your business and fact checking the nomination.

Surprisingly, winning takes more time. If you're serious about winning awards, you'll want to make sure you have come capacity to making the most of your win. Of course, I'm always here to support you through the process.

Many of my clients feel the same way and it’s natural for it to feel a bit uncomfortable at first. I’ll interview you and do the nomination writing, so it won’t feel like you’re bragging about yourself—instead, it will feel like you’re telling your story. Trust me, it’s worth it when you start to lean into and win awards based on your strengths.

The positive results will be a domino effect on your brand and business. Some of these include an increased network, developing a positive reputation and increased PR for your business, increased revenue, becoming a role model for others, and the opportunity to share your story.

Winning awards is really about communicating the impact of your work. You need some metrics and wins, whether it's revenue growth or people served. If you're new in your business, I would pick a few awards, read their criteria, work towards gaining that experience and then make a plan to apply next year.

Some awards do have a nomination fee (similar to paying to apply to college.)

Some are free to enter but do have a cost associated if you win (tickets to a celebration, ad space, etc.)

Whether you have to pay an entry fee or not doesn't make a difference to the credibility of the award, this is just based on how their business model works. 

The only type of award to avoid is the one you win without applying—usually an email shows up in your inbox and says you've already won and you must pay a fee. Avoid these. 

I suggest creating a budget and strategy for applying for awards, similar to a marketing or PR budget. While it does cost money, the ROI and income potential usually outweighs what you'll spend in application fees.

Once you approve your nomination, I’ll submit it on your behalf. At the same time, I’ll send you a few resources to make sure you’re set up to receive the most benefit from a win, including:

• PR best practices 
• A list of assets to have on hand when you win
• Customizable PR plan
• Tips for tracking multiple nominations
• “I won” social media templates to boost your win

If you’re less of a “resources” gal and more of a “just help me” person, we can continue working together to amplify your win with project management and PR support or apply for additional awards.

There’s no point in entering awards just for the sake of it. You’re here to win, right? 

But how to pick the “right” awards?

You need a strategy. 

That’s where I come in. When you hire me, we’ll dive deep into who you are, your goals, what your business does, where it’s located, and what sets you apart from your competitors. With that information, I’ll do the research to create your custom list of business award opportunities. 

Are you woman-owned? LGBTQ? Neurodiverse? Family-owned? Small business or large? Under 40 or Seasoned C-Suite? Near a major city? Offering a unique product or committed to making an impact? There are so many awards out there to celebrate your uniqueness. 

Together we’ll review the custom awards list, including cost to enter and deadlines and then pick the one you have the best shot of winning that will also bring your business the visibility you want.
